Content marketing for Our Universe

The client 

Lux Aeterna is an award-winning Bristol-based VFX studio working at the pinnacle of VFX to empower the world’s best storytellers. From storyboard to screen, the studio crafts compelling visuals and has close relationships with the likes of the BBC, Netflix, and Silverback Films. Lux Aeterna recently worked with BBC Studios to create a virtual production and VFX shots for the Netflix mini-series Our Universe.

The brief 

As part of our ongoing retainer with Lux Aeterna, we raise awareness for hero projects the studio has recently worked on. The team were keen to drive content marketing for Our Universe and position their skillset in the realm of cinematic VFX.

The strategy

To effectively manage the artist’s time, we opted to create content that was repurposable for PR, the website, and social media. We conducted an interview with the producer, director of photography, and creative team involved at Lux Aeterna, and created a core case study to use as the basis for wider content. We also researched the best keywords to use in the content, to ensure search optimisation.

From here, we worked with a variety of global VFX and production publications to deliver exclusive content for each outlet – focusing on different aspects of the production that related to the VFX work completed by Lux Aeterna. These included behind the scenes on the virtual shoot, the perspective of and collaboration with the directors of photography, and the research provided by the University of Durham to ensure there was accuracy in the VFX shots delivered in the scenes.

Based on this content, we created a blog post for the website to host the story — with the aim of further boosting SEO.

All content created was delivered in line with a social media strategy, ensuring maximum reach across owned and earned channels.

The results

10 exclusive content pieces produced – owned and earned.

Nine press clippings across key global press with a reach of over 970k, including Digital Production, Televisual, Broadcast, and PostPerspective.
