Flipbook Studio is a multi-disciplinary production house based in Manchester, delivering VFX, animation and multimedia installation work. With clients stretching from Netflix and the BBC to Vanquis Bank and Ninja Theory, the studio’s 10-year history is filled with an incredible roster of successful projects. As such, the Flipbook team has a wide and detailed knowledge of the digital creative industries, positioning them naturally as a thought leaders.
The brief
Alongside wider marketing efforts – including social media strategy, SEO, PR, and content writing – the Grammatik team was tasked with expanding the studio’s press coverage for 2020, exploring the wider thought leader opportunities and content creation that positions Flipbook as an industry leader. Instead of focusing on recently released projects, the team focused its attention on trending topics. Our successfully targeted publications were Games Industry Biz, Digital Arts, 3D World, and Animation Magazine.
The strategy
Concept
Grammatik conceived several thought-leadership titles based on Flipbook’s expertise, aligned with their business objectives and supported by keyword and SEO research: ‘How to make an effective game trailer’, ‘Can Animation rescue the live production shutdown?’, ‘Why animated characters in brand advertising are grrrreat’, ‘Connected communities during lockdown’ and “Why real-time engines will be the future of TV production’.
Pitching
Grammatik picked select industry publications, such as Animation Magazine and Digital Arts, and crafted an enticing pitch that targeted key journalists. By pitching ideas curated to meet the interests of the publication and Flipbook Studio, the strategy aimed to provide brand awareness across each key section of Flipbook’s customer base.
What We Did
Grammatik worked with the Flipbook team on the content, including an on-site series about Manchester’s digital production hub.
Grammatik secured coverage in Games Industry Biz, 3D World, Digital Arts and Animation Magazine for each title, as well as a regular column in Branding Mag.
Traffic to the Flipbook website increased as a result of backlinks in the coverage and social posts by each publication.
